Back in the 80s I used to see Natty Light in 6 packs of bottles before the whole cheap twelver of Natty was pushed. You can make a fortune in lies You can keep a giant alive You can ride the red Until everybody smiles A trifling euphoria Was such an untimely religion Maybe your life can explain The reason for my indecision Here is a poor man The heart of this monster creation He said we both will be heroes And I was led into temptation You can make a fortune in lies You can keep a giant alive You can ride the red Until everybody smiles Can you show me your gold and your silver?

A hero in frozen water "For the first time in a long time Everything was right in my world And then I woke up" Now you've made a fortune in lies And you kept a giant alive You rode the red You rode the red Edit Lyrics.

A Fortune in Lies song meanings. Add your thoughts 5 Comments. My Interpretation It sounds like its about how tempting it is to sell out for money and for fame, and how being a sincere musician can be harder than it looks. I marveled at how different they sounded when they first started their career. The whole feel of the album was different and it was a great vision of their beginnings.

This album is really hard to find. Is the first album recorded by the band as Dream Theater. Here you find Fortune in Lies and every concert famous song Ytse Jam. This song was named after drummer Mike Portnoy daughter Majesty read name backwards. While they are called Dream Theater, this album represents a sort of "Pre Dream Theater" The technicality is there, and the longer than average compositions, but its still kind of a mess.

The Ytse Jam is the best song on the album. The vocalist does not do the group justice, and his vocals sound kind of strained the entire album. Its a solid buy for hardcore Dream Theater fans Which I count myself among and its really interesting to hear the beginnings of the prog metal group, but not for casual listeners, or someone trying to get into the group. I've been a Dream Theater fan since the 80's before this debut album came out. I grew up on Long Island and took guitar lessons at a small music store in Commack where John Petrucci and Kevin Moore taught lessons before they were famous.

Unfortunately I did not take lessons from either of them as I was 12 years old at the time and had no idea what they would become. I was lucky enough to buy this album originally on vinyl when it first came out and now I'm happy to have it on CD. I've listened to it over and over again and never get tired of it. The reason I got into these guys. I lost my first copy of this so was glad to have it back.

See all reviews. Top reviews from other countries. As a long term fan of DT, I hadn't really paid much attention this album.

  7. Find The Fortunes song information on AllMusic. A fairly typical British Invasion quintet inspired by the bouncy, harmony-driven sound of Merseybeat, the Fortunes are probably best-known in the U.S. for their oldies-radio staple "You've Got Your Troubles.".
