I have enjoyed Ace of Base's previous albums for years and then along comes an unexpected double vinyl reissue from Germany. This is a great collection of familiar tunes from years gone by. And to hear them on gram vinyl for the first time is such a pleasure. Definitely not an original press. Just buy the digital in this case. The original CD was great, the remastered version is terrible.

They have took the Greatest Hits and Remixes album and then slapped Hidden Gems from in as the third disc. Sadly the Greatest Hits was missing some tracks. It would have been much better to have used Singles of the 90s from as the first disc and added the singles released after this.

The remixes disc is a bit pointless. Hidden Gems is okay. It has some good unreleased material and B-sides but is missing Love For Sale which was an excellent B-side track. The first ever greatest hits compilation on vinyl by Ace of Base! A g heavyweight gold coloured vinyl record, visually very beautiful, with an inner sleeve protection in which the tracklist is printed and the release year of every song. The vinyl record itself is not that quiet Greatest Hits.

There was something special about the year It just happened to be the year that I graduated high school for one, but just talking electronic dance pop music, something good must have been in the water then. One example that immediately comes to mind is that this year saw the initial release of Haddaway's mega-hit "What Is Love," which would of course go on to become an in-house standard on television programs like "Saturday Night Live" in the mid-'90s.

Shift across the world to the region of Scandinavia and enter the one and only Ace of Base. The group emerged from humble beginnings, with lead-off track and signature tune "All That She Wants" becoming a massive hit in in European dance clubs before the band was ever signed to a major label. It was clear from the group's overnight success that they were just too good to remain merely a cult, underground phenomenon for any longer.

Their debut full-length and the album being reviewed "the Sign" saw its North American release in November of , exactly 20 years ago this month, and that's why I wanted to write this review as a means to commemorate this special occasion. This CD is a monster success and engaging listen from beginning to end. I just previewed the whole disc as preparation for this review and there is not a single bad song to be found here, with several attaining absolute classic status. My favorite song of them all, though, is track number seven "Wheel of Fortune.
