Raw, stripped down, reverbed and distorted to hell. I decided to not call this a Toxic Holocaust record for a few reasons. The main one being Toxic has sort of morphed from being a solo project to now being a full band. That's not saying you wont see other "solo" Toxic material, but for right now it's definitely a solid band.
Also, this record is definitely less Thrash and more dirty Rock n Roll and finally I didn't want to just slap the Toxic name on it to sell it. I recorded this because I was anxious to record something like this again with out over thinking it.
Recorded in two days in a rehearsal room. All instruments by Joel Grind. People keep asking me about this record. I'm in the process of remixing it as I felt the original mix didn't quite capture what I was going for.
If you're a fan of Bathory, early black metal, or speed metal, I'd recommend you at least give this album a listen. From "Hail the Hordes" to "Hail to Cruelty", Bathory is a band well ingrained in the classics of extreme metal. If you haven't heard Bathory's self-titled release, I would absolutely recommend it, and I would even say listen to it before you listen to "The Yellowgoat Sessions".
If you're a fan of classic proto-black metal, or simply are curious to see what it's all about, look no further than "The Yellowgoat Sessions". Having originally been self released earlier in , Hells Headbangers has picked up this collection of recordings known as the Yellowgoat Sessions for wider distribution. Joel Grind will be familiar to most for his work with Toxic Holocaust a band which once was his solo project, but in recent years morphed into a fully fledged band with a complete line up.
Indeed, that is the main reason that this solo work has been released separately and not under the Toxic Holocaust banner, Joel just wanted to write some stuff to please himself and get it out to his loyal fans without sticking the Toxic Holocaust name or it or overthinking things in any other manner.
Yellow goat worshippers unite! Originally written for www. Personally I'm a bit sceptical about the idea of returning to a medieval idea of artist patronage, partly because I don't think fairweather music fans thinking they can dictate a band's musical direction because they have replaced a record label is a good thing, but also because in our present state we are still too engaged by the idea of record labels conferring respectability.
Certainly with this release I feel that it might be viewed by some as just leftover ideas from Toxic Holocaust. Fans of Joel Grind's main institution, especially long-term fans who've followed the band since the days of Evil Never Dies, will eat this up and probably all have already. Matt Mullins. Eric Martin. Descension Outro You are welcome to pay whatever you feel like paying or pay nothing at all. Making a recording is far from free, your donation of any size goes toward supporting an independent artist and allows projects like this to continue. In my opinion, music being released direct from the artist to the fan with no middle men is the future Thank you!
