This first line-up never performed live, and the live photos used in the album art are of Blackmore while with Deep Purple and of Elf playing live. A version featuring vocals subsequently appeared on Rainbow's live album On Stage and their studio album Stranger in Us All. The original vinyl release had a gate fold sleeve, although later budget reissues on Polydor reduced to a single sleeve.
The album's songs have been performed by subsequent Rainbow line-ups. The European release followed later in the year. Vocalist Ronnie James Dio considered this release his favourite Rainbow album. Despite the title implying the record being a Ritchie Blackmore solo release, in later years Blackmore has jokingly stated that Dio's contributions warranted a re-titling of "Ritchie Blackmore and Ronnie James Dio's Rainbow". Note: On the cassette version of the album Side One features the last five tracks while Side Two plays the first four.
Dio's vocals are top notch on every cut. This album showcases some different sides of Ritchie's guitar playing and is my personal favorite Rainbow album. Many years later and even with the passing of Ronnie James Dio it still holds a place amongst greatest albums of the seventies if not of all time.
What a great album by an amazing band that no one ever heard of. Dio's vocals are incredible. Blackmore's guitar work is gorgeous.
The fact that he fired the band after this recording might lead you to suspect that there is something wrong with this effort. The drumming is amazing. The bass is a treat. It's really a perfect album. Call it hard rock, call it metal, doesn't matter. Just great, powerful music. And what can I say about Dio's singing? Simply the best. I have been a fan of Ritchie Blackmore since Deep Purple, I seen them in concert when this was first released and have it on LP and cassette wanted to listen to it while driving.
There's something on the disc making it skip just hope I can remove whatever it is, sounds good when its not skipping would of been a 5 star rating. Though not as epic as Rainbow Rising, this album features the most known Rainbow song and one of my favorite tunes of all time. Man On The Silver Mountain, is killer. It doesn't need to be blazing fast, heavy as a rock, or so brutal your ears will bleed. This track is mellow and powerful at the same time.
Self Portrait is a good rock song, and is one of Dio's most underrated performances. Black Sheep Of The Family, an upbeat track and is just as powerful as the first song.
Has a great groove feeling to it. Register a free business account. Customer reviews. How are ratings calculated? This was dio's last one with this group and it's solid for sure. It's not great like the ones that came before it. The band was going through members left and right before finally settling on the line up they had. But they managed to create a great disc in spite of themselves. Other songs rock very well and sound like good prog metal to this day.
I do like their next one better though. As always the deluxe versions are better. Why didn't someone do this back in the 80" or 90's?
That is a mistake for sure. Anyways there's plenty of great prog metal on this to enjoy. So if you love that great melodic metal of yore' then buy this one. The sound is good on the discs too. Since this is among the earlier and most inspired offerings from a Ritchie Blackmore-lead Rainbow it has gotten mostly only the airplay of the day it was released, as were all of the albums featuring Ronnie James Dio as their vocalist. A month prior to their discharge they were transferred to another base along with a third man by the name Jong Ha.
The police now believe Jong Ha could be the next victim or the killer. But their investigation has only led them to Kyung-yoon's old friend, Yoon-suh who was in the same military base and shot himself. The transfer of the trio happened after. It is revealed through a series of flashbacks that Yoon-suh was gentle and effeminate.
Kyung-yoon protected Yoon-suh from bullies and it stops when he himself got into a fight and got beat up. He tells Yoon-suh to man up. Kyung-yoon independently tracks Yoon-suh. Even without such as make-up, and I say that beauty is because off a Striptease shine! Original cassette version and re-mastered version both matching, you can understand the great meaning and value that has for the first time of this sound source by comparing listening to each other!
Terrific of its listening response is going Tatoeyo but is enough no, you should say that there is no treasure of precious for hard rock fans! Only is the one and historical sound source master also one I will wake up from a long sleep. There's a problem loading this menu right now.
